I am a social scientist studying the state, societies, political regimes and the broader questions of social and political order.
I am a comparativist specializing on Russia and other countries of the post-Soviet region.
I received my PhD from Northwestern University in 2017 and had academic appointments at Stanford University, the University of Notre Dame, and the University of Michigan.
In 2022-2026, I was Strategy, Evidence, and Learning Advisor at Freedom House.
